This just keeps happening, and while it’s a coincidence, it’s just wild.
Every time there’s something somber that happens, whether it’s during the Thom Brennaman apology or that time a Royals announcer was eulogizing an equipment manager or other moments on the air of that ilk, the Philadelphia Phillies slugger finds a way to hit a home run or make a huge play.
It sort of happened again on Tuesday night. The all-time great Willie Mays died, and not long after the announcement went out, Castellanos got the game-winning hit for the Phillies in a win over the San Diego Padres.
MLB fans noticed:
Of course Nick Castellanos has a walkoff hit the night Willie Mays passes away.
There is simply no one more automatic.
Unreal. https://t.co/XWyXJa9Ub3

Willie Mays' passing is announced and less than an hour later Nick Castellanos hits a walk-off. Can't even make it up ðŸ˜pic.twitter.com/aEzeDHmwj8

Nick Castellanos walks off the Padres right after Willie Mays dies.
It’s got to be scripted at this point right? pic.twitter.com/5fJb5Eu4bs
