Jonathan Groff and Daniel Radcliffe earn surprise standing ovation in the middle of first ‘Merrily’ show since Tonys

Not a dry eye in the house.

The Broadway show Merrily We Roll Along had itself a pretty good weekend, winning four total Tony Awards at the weekends ceremony. The show itself won Best Revival of a Musical and Best Orchestrations, with Jonathan Groff taking home Best Lead Actor in a Musical, and Daniel Radcliffe winning Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

It was the first Tony Award win for both Radcliffe and Groff, and the duo was adorably elated for each other. During the first performance following the big wins, the show briefly stopped after the moment where they sing about handing Groff’s character a Tony Award.

Immediately, the crowd erupted in cheers, giving Groff, Radcliffe and the cast a standing ovation.

It was utterly heartwarming moment, especially as Groff had been nominated multiple times without getting over the hurdle of winning a Tony.
