For a lot of teams across the country, building special teams can be a bit of an afterthought. Under Jedd Fisch’s coaching staff, the Washington Huskies have taken a different approach to building the overlooked, but often critical aspect of the game.
Special teams coordinator Jordan Paopao earned the commitment of 2026 St. John Bosco kicker CJ Wallace in April, added Colorado long snapper Cameron Warchuck from the transfer portal, and has been aggressive at handing out offers to specialists in an attempt to build for the future.
At the coaching staff’s Top Dawg camp, the Huskies offered long snapper Mack Mulhern, a five-star long snapper from Horizon High School in Arizona, who is ranked as the No. 2 long snapper in the 2025 class by Kohl’s Professional Camps.
“Mulhern has been one of the best snappers in America at every Kohl’s Snapping Camp he attends,” his profile on Kohl’s Professional Camps reads. “He has a rare combination of power and control. At the Kohl’s Western Showcase, Mulhern was ripping the ball through the target. He finished the day with an average snap time of .66 seconds and scored on all but 1 of his total long snaps.”
“Mulhern has great size and is easily one of the most talented snappers in the country. Mulhern has what it takes to start at any program in the country.”
The Huskies also extended an offer to Carlsbad kicker Tyler Prasuhn, who looks like he could be a punter and kickoff specialist at the college level. Ranked as a 4.5 star prospect by Chris Sailer Kicking, Fisch’s coaching staff is making a concerted effort to build up its special teams.
“Tyler is a phenomenal high school kicking and punting prospect,” Sailer said in his online breakdown. “He is a great looking athlete with a live leg. Tyler does an excellent job on field goal. He gets the ball up well off the ground and easily has 55+ yard range. Tyler is pure and accurate. His kickoffs are strong, D1 ready. Tyler drives the ball 65+ with 4.15+ hang time. He is also a very talented punter. His best punts measure 40+ yards, with 5.0+ hang time. A competitor who kicks with big confidence.”
After a great call with @UWCOACHMAC, I’m blessed to have received an offer to The University of Washington! @CoachPaopao @CoachJeddFisch @8nicknovak @Daygofootball @Chris_Sailer @Cbad_Football @MohrRecruiting @adamgorney pic.twitter.com/ChpRTHU9ty
