It was a bit of a surprise when wide receiver Ja’kayden Ferguson announced he was visiting Kentucky football on June 14th. Now, just a few days later, he has committed to the Wildcats.
The 6’1″, 165 speedster out of Texas had a multitude of offers, even from SEC powerhouses like the Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, and Alabama Crimson Tide. He even took a few unofficial visits to a couple of SEC teams.

Ferguson is rated three stars by 247sports, and is the 436th overall player in the class in their composite ranking. He’s also their 23rd ranked athlete overall, and 69th ranked player from Texas.
Kentucky has had a number of quality receivers in recent years, and hope Ferguson can add his name to the list. With his track speed, he may be able to break into the rotation early on and contribute as a deep threat. Either way, he is a solid addition to the roster, and has the talent to be a very good player.
