The Washington Huskies are preparing to host 15 official visitors on June 21 and among them will be four-star edge rusher Chinedu Onyeagoro.
Onyeagoro has been a Husky target since Kalen DeBoer’s time at the helm and Jedd Fisch’s coaching staff has shown a lot of interest in the product of King Drew Medical Magnet High School in Los Angeles, California.
“Coach Fisch and I have a great relationship, we talk very often and he’s expressed a lot of interest in me,” Onyeagoro told Huskies Wire in February. The rest of the coaching staff are amazing people too, I’ve developed great relationships with [assistant director of recruiting] Armond Hawkins, [cornerbacks coach] John Richardson, and [defensive line coach Jason] Kaufusi.”
On Friday, Onyeagoro cut his list of 19 offers down to 4 ahead of his July 1 commitment and named the Huskies along with Florida, SMU, and UCLA. Before his official visit to Seattle, it appears SMU is the team to beat to secure his services, as coach Rhett Lashlee is pushing heavily to secure a top recruiting class as the team moves into the ACC.
247Sports recruiting analysts Blair Angulo and Greg Biggins both submitted crystal ball projections for Onyeagoro to choose Lashlee and the Mustangs, but Fisch, Kaufusi, and Washington’s coaching staff still have an opportunity to make a final pitch to California’s 2023 high school sacks leader.
