NASCAR has been bold with its scheduling in the Cup Series, and the recent rumors suggest it will continue. The Cup Series is expected to have one international race on the schedule in 2025, which would be a historic moment for the sport. However, which places or tracks do drivers want NASCAR to compete at in the Cup Series?
FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass asked several drivers, including [autotag]Chase Elliott[/autotag], this question, and the answers were fascinating. Elliott has advocated for one track in particular, which carried over into his answer.
“[Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway] would be a really good one,” Elliott said. The track needs upgrades to have a major NASCAR event, and Speedway Motorsports has spent several years trying to come up with a proposal that will allow it (owners of Charlotte, Bristol, Texas, Atlanta, and more) to rebuild the city-owned facility and operate it under a lease agreement. So far, it is mired in the Nashville political process with no clear, successful timeline.
NASCAR returning to Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway has been discussed for multiple years, but it hasn’t gained enough traction yet. Elliott is one of many drivers who would love to see NASCAR at the Nashville Fairgrounds, but it will be a tough process. Hopefully, the Cup Series can land a second race in Nashville soon, but it may require patience.
