The North Carolina Tar Heels are Omaha-bound for the 12th time in program history following a two-game sweep of West Virginia this weekend. After taking game one in walk-off fashion on Friday night, UNC sealed the deal in a 2-1 nail-biting win on Saturday.

UNC led from the first pitch as Vance Honeycutt hit a solo home run for a 1-0 lead. They extended that lead in the third inning with a Parks Harber RBI single. And that was enough.

The Tar Heels held off a late push by the Mountaineers as they had the bases loaded with two outs before Dalton Pence got a ground out for the final out.

North Carolina stormed out of the dugout as the party began in Chapel Hill.

With the win, UNC became the third Atlantic Coast Conference team to punch their ticket on Saturday joining Florida State and Virginia. UNC will match up against the Cavaliers in the first game in Omaha with a schedule set to be released after super regional games.

But before we look too far ahead, let’s see how social media reacted to the big win.
