Washington Huskies cornerbacks coach John Richardson has been working tirelessly on the recruiting trail since he arrived in Seattle.
While he hasn’t received his first commitment just yet, he has scheduled official visits with some of the nation’s top prospects and has added three-star ATH D’Aryhian Clemons to that list in place of four-star USC commit Trestin Castro, who appears to have canceled his visit after initially rescheduling.
A product of Spanaway Lake High School, Clemons is ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 22 athlete and the No. 5 player in Washington and holds 8 offers from Arizona State, California, Louisville, and West Virginia among others. He appears to be intent on staying in state and is set to take an official visit to Washington State on June 14 before his trip to Seattle on June 21.
Before he left for Alabama, Kalen DeBoer’s coaching staff also showed heavy interest in Clemons, so much so that 247Sports national recruiting editor Brandon Huffman put in a crystal ball prediction for him to pick the Huskies in December 2023.
The 6-foot, 170-pound prospect plays also plays running back at Spanaway Lake but projects out on the defensive side thanks to his eye discipline and fluid athleticism. He always looks like the fastest player on the field and can accelerate and decelerate with ease.
With some extra weight on his frame and refinement to his technique under Richardson’s tutelage, he could be one of the hidden gems of the 2025 class that Jedd Fisch’s staff will try to secure a commitment from at the end of the month.
