When you think about the rise of Oregon Duck football and the national brand that they have come to be over the last couple of decades, there is no more singularly important person than Phil Knight, the co-founder of Nike.
His investment in the program has seen Oregon reach new heights and kept the Ducks at the forefront of change over the years. It’s no secret that ‘Uncle Phil’ has been a monumental figure in Eugene, but the story of that relationship is about to be told on a deeper level.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Ducks unveiled a new trailer for “Rooted in Substance,” a documentary-style film that details the role that Nike has had in the growth of the Oregon football program. The film will be released on June 25. The timing of this project is perfect, as the Ducks are about to be on a bigger stage as new members of the Big Ten Conference in 2024. They will also have new uniforms to unveil this summer as well, so it all seems to tie together.
As you would expect, Oregon fans absolutely loved the trailer release, and they let that be known on Wednesday.
