[autotag]Austin Cindric[/autotag] sat in third place in the closing laps of the NASCAR Cup Series race at World Wide Technology Raceway and appeared to have a great finish coming. Cindric was behind Ryan Blaney and Christopher Bell; however, he found himself in first place on the final lap after Blaney ran out of fuel and Bell had engine troubles. It was a shocking victory for the Team Penske driver.
Following the shocking win, Cindric climbed out of his No. 2 car with a clinched spot in the 2024 NASCAR playoffs. He also talked about his victory and Blaney running out of gas on the final lap.
“Yeah, honestly, I’m heartbroken for the No. 12 team,” Cindric said. “I don’t know what happened to them at the end of the race. They deserved to win this race. [Ryan Blaney] has been a hell of a leader on this team.”

“This weekend was a great weekend for everybody involved. But, yeah, to have two cars in the fight, eventual 1-2. Heartbroken for those guys. This is huge for me. This is huge for this team. I’m so glad I was able to get a win with [Brian Wilson] as my crew chief in the [NASCAR Cup Series]. You never know when it’s going to happen again. Just drove by butt off, hope for the best.”
Cindric likely wasn’t going to make the 2024 NASCAR playoffs without a victory, so putting himself in the right place has changed the entire course of his season. It had been 85 races since the Team Penske driver’s last victory in the Cup Series, and it came at the perfect time. Cindric is now playoff-bound and a much-needed victory could produce better results moving forward.
