The U.S. women’s national team is apparently ready for Prime Time.
Former NFL star Deion Sanders, who is currently head coach of the University of Colorado Buffaloes football team, dropped in to greet new coach Emma Hayes and the team on Wednesday.
The USWNT has been training at the University of Colorado ahead of a June 1 friendly against South Korea, which is set for a 5 p.m. ET kickoff at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.
Sanders greeted Hayes during a team meal, before being introduced to the team.
“You guys are wonderful,” Sanders told the USWNT. “I appreciate you guys. I hope and pray to God that you work hard, you do what you strive to do, and you win. That’s what it’s all about.”

As is customary whenever anyone from soccer meets anyone else, Sanders was then presented with a USWNT scarf.

The USWNT will be hoping to experience more rapid success under Hayes than the Buffaloes have under Sanders. While the former Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons star has rejuvenated national interest in Colorado’s program following a one-win season in 2022, the team went 4-8 during the 2023 season.
