The Philadelphia 76ers will be star hunting as they head into the 2024 offseason. That much is very clear as they have the cap space to acquire a max player to put next to Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey on the floor. President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey has set the Sixers up in a perfect position going forward.

However, while the Sixers will be looking to go get a star, they will also need to fill out the rest of the roster. Philadelphia has plenty of free agents that it would like to bring back, but it just isn’t possible. Therefore, the Sixers will need to look at other avenues.

A fake trade suggestion from Bleacher Report has the Sixers making a move for a young player from the Golden State Warriors.

Sixers get: Moses Moody

Warriors get: No. 16 pick

With Philly carrying championship expectations into the 2024-25 campaign, it may not want to withstand any growing pains that the 16th overall pick would almost certainly have. The Sixers could have an easier time seeing Moody stepping into a three-and-D role on opening night while also hoping that the No. 14 pick of the 2021 draft has some untapped potential remaining after receiving inconsistent minutes over his first three seasons.

As mentioned, the Sixers will be swinging for the fences this summer. Their big move will likely come in free agency as star players such as Paul George will likely be available for them to make a move on. There will also be other stars who could be available for trade, but they will need to fill out the roster.

That’s where Moody comes in. He hasn’t been spectacular with the Warriors, but he is shooting 36.2% from deep through three seasons in the league. That right there should make it at least enticing to move the No. 16 pick in this draft to go get Moody. He at least has NBA experience and would be able to help right away.

When considering the Sixers’ timeline, moving the No. 16 pick should be at the top of Morey’s priority list. While it would be helpful to add a young player to develop for the future, the Sixers do not have that type of time. They are looking to win now and moving that pick for somebody like Moody who has been in the league for three seasons will be helpful as they will add somebody who can contribute right now.
