NFC West check-in: OTAs, Brock Purdy and other 49ers stories for Cardinals fans

These are a few stories from last week that Cardinals fans should know about the NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers.

We have made it through another week of the NFL offseason and entering a holiday weekend. It is time to check in with the Arizona Cardinals’ division rivals in the NFC West.

What is new with the San Francisco 49ers?

Below are a few stories from the last week about the 49ers that Cardinals fans should know about.

The Niners opened voluntary OTAs last week like the Cardinals did. These are the biggest questions surrounding the team right now.

The Cardinals had fantastic attendance and participation in OTAs. It is the voluntary part of the offseason, of course, but the 49ers have a different vibe. As many as 16 players were not seen or not participating. Some were because of injuries.

The 49ers have a few players dealing with injuries as OTAs began.

Ward had core muscle surgery in the offseason. He believes he will be fully recovered for training camp.

Brock Purdy had elbow surgery last offseason and was ready for the start of the season, but he spent the offseason rehabbing. Healthy this offseason, he is seeing the benefits.

It is a story similar to the Cardinals and Kyler Murray, who was rehabbing his torn ACL last offseason.

The Cardinals had their preseason slate finalized. So did the 49ers.
