As the San Antonio Spurs look to potentially reshape their roster this summer, adding playmaking help will undoubtedly be a top priority. One guy who they could potentially target is veteran guard Chris Paul, as Marc Stein of The Stein Line recently reported that the Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers have repeatedly come up as potential suitors. That said, the Lakers seem more likely.
“The Spurs and the Lakers keep coming up as potential suitors for the Warriors’ Chris Paul if Paul becomes a free agent this offseason. Paul’s longstanding friendship with LeBron James and his well-known desire to stay as close to his L.A.-based family as possible certainly add credence to the notion of the Lakers’ signing him.”
At 39 years old, Paul is entering the final years of his NBA career, but his playmaking skills and basketball mind are still very valuable skills.
Bringing him in, even if it were just to be a mentor to Victor Wembanyama Tre Jones, and others, could be a very intriguing idea for the Spurs.
