Injury fear for Endrick as teenage Brazil star stretchered off for Palmeiras

The 17-year-old star indicated he may have played his last match for Palmeiras

Brazil will face a nervous wait on teenage star Endrick, who was stretchered off for Palmeiras in Wednesday’s Copa Libertadores match against Independiente del Valle.

The 17-year-old appeared to feel some discomfort in his leg without any contact. After attempting to play through the injury, he dropped to the pitch and received treatment from the team’s medical staff.

The forward was forced to exit on a stretcher in the 60th minute, as he was substituted out of the match at Allianz Parque in São Paulo.

Endrick was later seen icing the injury on the bench, with Palmeiras going on to win the match 2-1.

Endrick was named to Brazil’s 23-man roster for the Copa América last week. Despite his young age, he is expected to play a major role for the Seleçao as they aim to win the title on U.S. soil.

Brazil kicks off the tournament on June 24 against Costa Rica.

Though the full extent of Endrick’s injury is not yet known, the forward provided a hint on Thursday when he seemed to indicate he had played his final match for Palmeiras.

“Palmeiras, I love you, thank you for everything,” read a message on his Instagram story.

Endrick agreed to join Real Madrid for a €35 million fee plus €25m in variables in December 2022. He is set to join up with the La Liga power in July when he turns 18.
