The first practice of the 2024 Indianapolis 500 took place on Tuesday morning, but it didn’t last long. After 23 minutes of practice, the inevitable weather in the forecast arrived and soaked the race track. Felix Rosenqvist, Kyle Kirkwood, and Scott McLaughlin each ran 13 laps, the highest of the 26 cars that got on the track at racing speed.

After a short session, the NTT IndyCar Series announced that activity at Indianapolis Motor Speedway would not resume on Tuesday afternoon. Therefore, Scott Dixon led the field with a hot lap of 229.107 miles per hour, with a total of nine laps. Kyle Larson, who is attempting “The Double,” didn’t get to racing speed after a few shakedown laps.
