Kentucky baseball wrapped up their three-game series with the Florida Gators on Sunday by bouncing back from a Saturday loss with a win to take the series. They won it by a score of 7 – 5.
The Wildcats opened the scoring with a three-run second inning. The score stayed 3 – 0 up until the seventh when Florida scored two to make it close, then they tied it in the ninth to send it to extra innings for the second time in the series.
In the tenth, Kentucky posted four runs, three of which came on a double by Patrick Herrera. In the bottom of the inning, Florida rallied for two runs, but came up short.
The Cats got 6.2 strong innings from starter Mason Moore. He gave up just two runs on three hits. Offensively, Herrera was the hero, having gone 2-for-3 with four runs driven in.
The Wildcats record now stands at 36 – 11 overall and 19 – 7 in SEC competition. Up next is the last non-conference game of the season, against Wright State at home. Then they’ll host Vanderbilt to close out the year.
