NASCAR was talking with Montreal last year about a points race for the Cup Series; however, the talks broke down, and Montreal wasn’t added to the 2024 calendar. Yet, NASCAR is still pushing for an international race, as a deal with Mexico City is reportedly “close.” As for Canada, NASCAR is still trying but may not succeed.
According to The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi, it seems unlikely that NASCAR will race in Canada during the 2025 season. Bianchi said that talks have resumed between the sport and Montreal, but nothing is definitive about those discussions. For now, if they can complete the deal, NASCAR may decide that Mexico City is enough for 2025.
NASCAR president Steve Phelps said in February that he would be surprised if the sport didn’t go north and south of the border in 2025, but talks about the schedule are very fluid. The Cup Series might be going to Mexico City for a points race next year; however, Montreal could be revisited for the 2026 season.
