Michael McDowell ‘likely’ to join Spire Motorsports for 2025 NASCAR season

Michael McDowell is “likely” to join Spire Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup Series for the 2025 season.

[autotag]Michael McDowell[/autotag] announced on Wednesday morning that he will not return to the No. 34 car for Front Row Motorsports in 2025. After spending seven years with the organization, McDowell will move forward with his career as he plans to race for “many” years to come. Following the 2021 Daytona 500 winner’s announcement, he has already been linked to another team.

According to The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi, McDowell will likely sign with Spire Motorsports for the 2025 NASCAR season. Corey LaJoie, Carson Hocevar, and Zane Smith drive for Spire Motorsports in the Cup Series; however, Smith is under contract with Trackhouse Racing and should move on from the race team if the organization buys another charter.

Therefore, McDowell would join LaJoie and Hocevar in this scenario. This would be surprising because Front Row Motorsports just upgraded its relationship with Ford while Spire Motorsports is still building. However, McDowell joining Spire Motorsports does have potential, and would be a good fit as he looks to find a home for the rest of his career.
