When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed quarterback Baker Mayfield to a one-year deal last offseason, it felt like the former No. 1 overall pick’s last chance to prove he could be a successful starter in the NFL.
He responded with the best season of his career, earning a Pro Bowl nod while leading the Bucs to a third straight NFC South title and a fourth consecutive trip to the postseason.
The Bucs rewarded Mayfield with a new three-year contract extension, so Mayfield now heads into the 2024 season with long-term job security as Tampa Bay’s unquestioned starter.
