Kentucky baseball completes series win over Arkansas Razorbacks on Sunday

Kentucky baseball beat the Arkansas Razorbacks on Sunday to win the series.

It was a tough start to a three-game series with the Arkansas Razorbacks, as Kentucky baseball lost the opener 10 – 3. They bounced back and evened the series with a win on Saturday. Then, on Sunday, the Cats struck again, winning the game, and the series.

Kentucky’s power was on display early. Emilien Pitre hit a solo homerun in the first inning, then Nick Lopez hit a two-run shot in the third. That put the Wildcats up 3 – 0.

In the fourth, the Cats broke up open with three more runs. The Razorbacks made it 6 – 3 before Ryan Nicholson drove in a run in the seventh. The final would be 7 – 4.

Pitre went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs. Nick Lopez and Nolan McCarthy also had two hits. Mason Moore was terrific on the mound, going five innings and surrendering just two runs.

Kentucky is now 35 – 10 overall, and 18 – 6 in the SEC. Up next is a mid-week match-up against Xavier. It’s an afternoon game, played at 3:00 PM and is in Cincinnati.
