[autotag]Jimmie Johnson[/autotag]’s second year with Legacy Motor Club is underway, and the seven-time NASCAR champion’s 2024 schedule calls for a return to a special race track. Johnson will drive the No. 84 car for Legacy Motor Club in this weekend’s Cup Series race at Dover Motor Speedway. The 48-year-old owner has the most wins at Dover in NASCAR history.
Johnson’s last NASCAR victory came at Dover in 2017, which marked his 11th win at the venue. Most recently, success has been the standard for him in Delaware. Johnson has three straight top-8 finishes at Dover from 2019 to 2020. In the second race of 2020, Johnson had a third-place finish that saw him lead three laps.
Expectations for Johnson heading into the Würth 400 at Dover this weekend shouldn’t be too high; however, seeing him return to his best NASCAR track will be fun. Johnson likely won’t be a threat for the victory, but it’s impossible to rule him out. With this much success at Dover, Johnson could pull off the unthinkable on Sunday afternoon.
