Could a Villanova transfer replace first rounder Reed Sheppard ?

Kentucky basketball coach Mark Pope should contact Villanova transfer Brendan Hausen.

Villanova sophomore guard Brendan Hausen has entered the transfer portal. The news was first reported by Brandon Jenkins of 247sports.com. The 6 foot 4, 200 pound shooting guard and Amarillo (TX) native spent two seasons with the Wildcats.

A legitimate sharpshooter, Hausen emerged as one of the best three-point shooters in the country while at Villanova. He averaged 6.2 points across 34 games in 2023-24 on 39.2% shooting from beyond the arc.

Hausen will have two years of eligibility remaining. He should draw interest from tons major programs, including Kentucky. New Wildcats head coach Mark Pope needs an influx of talented players to replace those who left the program this off-season.

Hausen had 25 offers coming out of high school, including ones from Oregon, Houston, and Texas A&M, as a four star recruit and the number 73 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle.

Kentucky would love to add some veteran guards from the transfer portal. They’ve been in contact with several, and should be interested in Hausen as well.
