In a major change of events, NBC Sports will not air the NASCAR Xfinity Series to close out the 2024 season. According to Motorsport.com’s Jim Utter, The CW will take over for NBC Sports in the final eight Xfinity Series races of 2024. This is one year earlier than expected, as The CW was supposed to broadcast all Xfinity Series races starting in 2025.
According to Utter, the reasons behind the switch are expected to be revealed later on Thursday. The CW will start broadcasting at Bristol Motor Speedway on September 20, the final race of the regular season. The CW’s broadcast booth has not been announced, but the final eight races this year will give viewers a taste of what’s to come in 2025.
This is shocking as The CW will now broadcast races from 2024 to 2031. It will be fascinating to see who joins The CW broadcast booth and if the network will be live at the race track each weekend. The best broadcasts come from the race track, so hopefully, The CW will decide to go that route as NASCAR’s TV schedule undergoes an unexpected change.
