NASCAR entered Martinsville Speedway after a controversial weekend of racing in Virginia. Last week, the Cup Series saw Denny Hamlin beat Martin Truex Jr. at Richmond Raceway en route to his second victory of the 2024 season. Unlike Richmond, Martinsville wasn’t as controversial but did feature an overtime restart.
At the end of the day, William Byron beat his Hendrick Motorsports teammates for his third win of the 2024 season at Martinsville on Sunday. After a slight overview of the notable moments, here are the NASCAR TV ratings following the Cook Out 400 at Martinsville.
.@FS1 got 2.191 million viewers for Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville, nearly flat from 2.218 million viewers last year (the race @ChaseElliott returned from injury) despite immense competition from the @WFinalFour championship game, which got 18.7 million viewers. pic.twitter.com/gpDg5ZCGj9

NASCAR and FOX Sports 1 earned 2.191 million average viewers for the Cook Out 400 at Martinsville, which was down roughly one percent compared to 2023. Last year, the race was marked by Chase Elliott’s return to the sport after his injury. In 2024, the NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship Game was NASCAR’s biggest competition.
Now, the Cup Series is focusing its attention on Texas Motor Speedway, as the ninth official weekend of the 2024 NASCAR season will soon be underway.
