Victor Wembanayma on improved playmaking in Spurs win over Pelicans

After the San Antonio Spurs’ win over the New Orleans Pelicans, Victor Wembanyama spoke about his improved playmaking.

Though Victor Wembanyama has been impressive all season, the improvements he has made throughout the course of the year have been incredible to watch. Obviously, his strides on the defensive end stem from his wild physical tools and elite instincts on that side of the ball. Offensively, he’s had to take a more methodical approach.

He’s still working on his shot selection and overall scoring game, but the biggest thing he’s consistently spoken about is improving his chemistry with his teammates. On Friday night against the New Orleans Pelicans, Wembanyama’s assist totals reflected his improvements in that area of his game.

“It’s a [facilitating] role I knew I always had in me, really, but it’s been hard, being young, obviously,” Wembanyama said. “I’m glad how we’re developing. I can’t be a complete player if I don’t make my teammates better. If it shows up in assists, that’s great.”

Wembanyama dished out nine assists en route to a 111-109 win over the Pelicans.
