NFC scout believes Caleb Williams is a ‘franchise-altering’ talent

The Bears are getting “a franchise-altering type of talent” in Caleb Williams, according to one NFC scout.

The Chicago Bears are preparing to usher in the start of the Caleb Williams era, which will become official no later than Thursday, April 25 at around 8:10 p.m. ET.

There’s been no shortage of hype surrounding Williams, who possesses an insane skillset and high ceiling where some believe he’s the best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck. It’s why Bears general manager Ryan Poles made the difficult decision to part ways with Justin Fields this offseason.

In a recent ESPN article breaking down the draft’s top quarterbacks, Williams received high praise from one NFC scout, who believes one team (cough, the Bears) is going to get one heck of a talent.

“He’s special and whoever gets him will have a franchise-altering type of talent,” the NFC scout told ESPN.

The Bears have already spent extensive time with Williams during the pre-draft process, which came to a head before his pro day a couple of weeks ago. All signs have pointed toward Chicago drafting Williams for awhile, but trading Fields was the final indicator.

While “franchise-altering” talent is important, so is situation. And Poles has done a solid job cultivating a near-perfect situation for an incoming No. 1 rookie quarterback.

The Bears have a slew of weapons, including DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, D’Andre Swift and Cole Kmet along with a solid, improving offensive line. Chicago also has arguably a top-10 defense, which showed vast improvement to close out the year.
