Ariel Antigua makes first career start at Tennessee

Freshman shortstop Ariel Antigua makes first career start at Tennessee.

No. 5 Tennessee (22-4, 3-3 SEC) defeated Tennessee Tech (13-12, 1-2 OVC), 11-1 in seven innings, on Tuesday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Rankings reflect the USA TODAY Sports baseball coaches poll.

Freshman shortstop Ariel Antigua made his first career start for the Vols on Tuesday.

He went 0-for-3 in the contest. Antigua recorded nine assists and one putout at shortstop.

The 5-foot-8, 184-pound infielder appeared in five contests before starting against Tennessee Tech on Tuesday. Antigua debuted with the Vols against Kansas State on March 5. He also played in games against Southern Indiana, Illinois, Eastern Kentucky and Xavier.

Antigua came to Tennessee from Trinity Christian Academy in Lake Worth, Florida.
