The hip-drop tackle has been banned.
It was announced Monday that the NFL officially ruled the hip-drop tackle is no more via a unanimous vote by the competition committee. Currently the NFL owners meetings are unfolding down in Orlando.
This comes after several players have suffered serious foot and ankle injuries over the last handful of years due to that style of tackle. Defenders are not happy about it.
