Duke got through the first round with a comfortable win over Vermont on Friday night, but the Blue Devils aren’t done dancing with double-digit seeds just yet.
No. 12 James Madison defeated No. 5 Wisconsin by a score of 72-61 later on Friday, setting the Dukes up for a second-round battle with Duke.
The Dukes, a popular upset pick coming into the week, finished as the Sun Belt Conference champions after a 28-3 regular season record and a three-game run through the conference tournament.
They’ll enter their second-round battle with the Blue Devils riding a 14-game winning streak, the longest in the nation, and with a 32-3 record for the year.
The Dukes have one of the most efficient offenses in the country, within the nation’s top forty in both 3-point percentage and effective field goal percentage.
Duke and James Madison will play for a spot in the Sweet 16 at 5:15 p.m. ET on Sunday. The game will be broadcast on CBS.
