The Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball season ended on Thursday night in round one of March Madness. They went into the NCAA Tournament as a number three seed, but they fell to 14th seeded Oakland 90 – 86.
It was another disappointing March Madness appearance for the Wildcats, who have only won one NCAA Tournament game in the past five years. It’s the second time in three seasons they’ve been a top three seed and suffered a huge upset.
For Kentucky, their two most experienced players carried them in the game. Antonio Reeves scored 27 points, while Tre Mitchell had 14 points and 13 rebounds.
On the other side, Oakland shot the ball well, including out-shooting Kentucky from three point range. Jack Gohlke made 10 threes and scored 32 points, while Oakland as a whole made 15 of their 31 attempts from deep.
