Last weekend, the Kentucky Wildcats baseball team had a tough series, losing two of three games to Kennesaw State. This weekend, they began SEC play against the Georgia Bulldogs.
The Wildcats opened the series on Friday with a 16 – 10 victory. Eight different Kentucky batters drove in at least one run, and five guys had at least two hits. The Wildcats scored five runs in three different innings en route to the win.
The Kentucky bats stayed hot on Saturday. They had 14 hits as a team, with Ryan Waldschmidt and James McCoy each recording three. Dominic Niman pitched a solid 6.2 innings as the Cats won 9 – 3.
Sunday was more of the same. The Wildcats had 10 hits, and Emilien Pitre and Ryan Nicholson each drove in three runs. Mason Moore pitched six innings and gave up just two runs in a 12 – 2 victory.
Kentucky’s next game is against Evansville on Tuesday, then they go on the road for a three-game series against Missouri next weekend where they’ll continue their SEC schedule.
