2024 NFL draft: Huge draft trade flips first-round on its head in new mock draft

Lots of changes in our new mock draft after multiple free agent moves and one huge trade.

The 2024 NFL draft is just six weeks away but we already have a huge draft trade. Here’s how the huge trade between the Houston Texans and Minnesota Vikings broke down.

Vikings receive:

Pick No. 23

Pick No. 232

Texans get:

Pick No. 42

Pick No. 188

2025 2nd-round pick

Between the trade and the first wave of free agency, we have lots of new names in new spots in our latest two-round mock draft.

We aren’t sure what the Bears are going to do with Justin Fields and if they cannot trade him, this could be a pick on the move.

The Commanders are in the market for a quarterback and opt for the athleticism of Jayden Daniels here.

The Patriots didn’t delve into the free-agent market so they are happy to get Drake Maye here.

The Cardinals lost Marquise Brown to free agency so they opt for a massive upgrade in Marvin Harrison Jr.

The Chargers let Mike Williams leave in free agency and traded away Keenan Allen making wide receiver easily the team’s top need. Malik Nabers is a true No. 1 receiver and perfect pick here.

The Giants seem content with their crop of quarterbacks so we go with big-play receiver Rome Odunze instead.

The Titans have put in work in free agency but still need an elite left tackle so this pick stays with Notre Dame’s Joe Alt.

After signing Kirk Cousins, the Falcons can focus on defense with edge rusher Dallas Turner.

Chicago got their wide receiver help in free agency so they look to defense here with edge defender Jared Verse to beef up the defensive front.

The Jets probably want to see a wide receiver fall here but instead they get a bigtime blindside defender in Taliese Fuaga.

After losing Kirk Cousins to the Falcons, quarterback becomes the team’s top priority and J.J. McCarthy is a mature, productive quarterback with all the intangibles.

First surprise pick here but the Broncos cannot afford to pass on a quarterback. This could be a spot for them to trade back but still hope to land Bo Nix.

The Raiders miss out on the top quarterbacks but land the best defensive back in the draft in Cooper DeJean.

The Saints could use help at guard or tackle and Troy Fauntanu can start anywhere on the offensive line.

The Colts did what they needed to for the offense in free agency so they opt for a shutdown cornerback in Quinyon Mitchell.

The Seahawks could go a number of directions here but we like landing Olu Fashanu this late.

Jacksonville could easily go with a receiver like Brian Thomas Jr. here but we love the skill set of Nate Wiggins along with that game-breaking speed.

It is criminal if Brock Bowers falls all the way to No. 18 but the Bengals won’t be complaining.

The retirement of future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald makes this decision an easy one. Byron Murphy II is the top interior defender in this draft.

The Steelers didn’t sign a free-agent center but landed the top center in the draft instead.

The Dolphins select Johnny Newton here to help replace the productivity of Chrisitan Wilkins.

We love the fit of Laiatu Latu as an edge rusher for an Eagles team that has made several big moves in free agency.

We don’t expect the Vikings to be making this pick as they use it to move up but if they can’t make a deal, cornerback Terrion Arnold is a great value.

The Cowboys could go a number of different directions here but can’t pass up on Graham Barton who could start at any spot on the offensive line.

There’s no reason for JC Latham to fall this far but the Packers won’t complain when they get a franchise left tackle.

The run on edge rushers put the Bucs in a position where they opt for offensive tackle Amarius Mims.

Arizona goes with a playmaker on offense with their first pick in the round and come back around with a defensive playmaker in Kool-Aid McKinstry.

This pick was wide receiver until the Bills added Curtis Samuel so instead we go with depth at offensive tackle.

The Lions don’t have any glaring needs after the first wave of free agency but an upgrade at safety makes sense and Tyler Nubin is the top in the class.

The Ravens would be ecstatic if Brian Thomas Jr. made it all that way to the bottom of the first round as a deep threat for Lamar Jackson.

The Niners replace Arik Armstead with the athletic and explosive Braden Fiske.

The Chiefs got themselves a second receiver in free agency so they can focus on upgrading a questionable offensive tackle depth chart.
