For the second game in a row, the San Antonio Spurs took on the Golden State Warriors, who are fighting for seeding in the Western Conference. While the Spurs won the first game without Victor Wembanyama and Devin Vasell, they couldn’t match the same result in the second, losing by a score of 112-102 to the Stephen Curry-less Warriors.
Jonathan Kuminga was the driving force behind Golden State’s victory, as he put up 22 points and five rebounds. Rookie center Trayce Jackson-Davis also had a nice game, pouring in 13 points to go along with 10 rebounds off the bench. With Curry sidelined, the Warriors’ three-point attempt numbers dropped, so they attacked the basket.
After the game, Wembanyama spoke about how the Spurs failed to effectively match the Warriors’ physicality throughout the game.
“So, obviously, consistency is always [important], but today, I think it’s also responding to the physicality that they put,” Wembanyama said via ESPN. “We didn’t have a strong enough response.”
Wembanyama ended the game with 27 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, one steal, and two blocks while shooting 10-of-25 from the field and 3-of-9 from beyond the three-point arc.
