Da’Vine Joy Randolph honored her mom in an incredibly heartfelt speech after winning Best Supporting Actress

Da’Vine Joy Randolph gave such a great Oscar speech after winning Best Supporting Actress.

After delivering one of the best performances of 2023, stage and screen veteran Da’Vine Joy Randolph deservedly won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar on Sunday night for her performance in The Holdovers.

After a really touching tribute from previous Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o, Randolph gave an incredibly heartfelt speech after winning the Academy Award, her first in her career, one where she thanked her mother for encouraging her to pursue acting.

It’s always so moving to watch someone win their first Academy Award, and Randolph showed exactly why it’s such an incredible moment to be honored for your career in such a way as winning an Oscar.

After an awards season filled with wins, Rudolph finally won the biggest prize.

While her victory might’ve been one most people saw coming after so many precursor victories at previous shows, it doesn’t make it any less awesome.

She delivers one of the strongest performances in one of 2023’s best movies, and that alone is worth celebrating. The Oscar is just the grand finale.
