The Washington Huskies and athletic director Troy Dannen made the best hire possible in Jedd Fisch after Kalen DeBoer departed for Alabama. Over his three seasons at Arizona, he took a one-win team and turned it into the No. 11 team before taking the Washington job.
Fisch is considered to be one of the rising stars in the coaching community and could continue to grow as the Huskies move to the Big Ten in 2024. With a month before spring practice gets underway, Brad Crawford of 247 Sports ranked all 18 coaches in the conference, placing Fisch directly in the middle at No. 9.
“Jedd Fisch is rising in the collegiate coaching ranks and finds himself in one of the nation’s two premier conferences after leaving Arizona for Washington,” Crawford said.
“His tenure is going to be compared, at least early, to Kalen DeBoer’s level of success with the Huskies and that’s going to be difficult to match. After going 1-11 with the Wildcats in 2021, he won 10 games at Arizona two years later as one of last season’s hottest teams exiting the campaign. Washington’s schedule is treacherous in 2024 and Fisch’s star power will rise if he’s able to take out several nationally-ranked, premiere opponents as a top-25 team.”
Fisch came in just ahead of Michigan State’s Jonathan Smith on the list and one spot behind Michigan’s Sherrone Moore.
