The Florida basketball program is entering the month of March without an AP Top 25 rank next to its name. But it is not all doom and gloom for the Gators.
Although the Orange and Blue were able to take down the Missouri Tigers at home, they failed the ultimate test by falling to the South Carolina Gamecocks, 82-76, on Saturday afternoon. The six-point loss was enough for the Associated Press to knock the Gators out of the top 25, but the program still received 39 votes.
Florida barely made the cut last week at No. 24, but will now enter the most important month of the year unranked with two games left in the season. Although there is some good news — the Gators are still ranked No. 25 by the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.
Up next for the Gators is a home matchup with the Alabama Crimson Tide on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET, broadcasting on ESPN. The Tide tumbled two spots in the AP Poll, now ranking at No. 16 after its recent loss to the Tennessee Volunteers.
