Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy comments on Patriots pre-draft interview

Here’s what J.J. McCarthy said about his pre-draft interview with the Patriots

Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy had an incredible 2023 season. He threw for 2,991 yards, 22 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also was able to help lead the Wolverines to their first national title since 1997.

Now, McCarthy has aspirations to make a splash in the NFL. The quarterback was asked about the possibility of playing for the Patriots, and he spoke highly of the organization.

McCarthy met with the Patriots earlier this week, as the organization has continued to do their homework on the top quarterbacks in the 2024 draft class.

“Coach Mayo, awesome guy, asked some really great questions,” said McCarthy. “You can definitely tell he’s been around this process for along time and been a part of it. Great interactions and it would be an honor to be a part of their organization.”

McCarthy may be available in the later half of the first round.

One has to wonder if New England’s meeting with the quarterback is planning for the fact that they may trade down. Either way, it seems like the Patriots are accounting for all scenarios.
