Social media reacts to Washington’s stars at the NFL combine

The Washington Huskies had a big day on Saturday during on field testing at the NFL combine.

It was a big day for the Washington Huskies on the field at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Saturday as quarterbacks and wide receivers participated in on field drills. To no surprise of any Washington fans, draft analysts dubbed wide receiver Rome Odunze and quarterback Michael Penix Jr. two of the biggest winners of the day.

Odunze dominated the on-field testing portion, with a 4.45 40-yard dash at nearly 6-foot-3 and 215-pounds, while also running a blazing 4.03 short shuttle drill and adding a 39 inch vertical jump to display his explosiveness.

With the top three quarterbacks on most draft boards, USC’s Caleb Williams, UNC’s Drake Maye, and LSU’s Jayden Daniels deciding not to work out, Penix had an opportunity to impress and didn’t disappoint.

However, they weren’t the only Huskies to take the field on Saturday. Although running back Dillon Johnson struggled in the 40-yard dash, wide receivers Jalen McMillan and Ja’Lynn Polk both posted good times before showcasing their skills in on-field workouts, with Polk and Odunze both getting an opportunity to catch passes from Penix.

A Washington record was also broken on Saturday, as wide receiver John Ross’ record for the fastest 40-yard dash time of 4.22 seconds was bested by Texas’ Xavier Worthy, who clocked in with a blazing 4.21.

Needless to say, social media was ablaze discussing one of the biggest evaluation days in the pre-draft process.

Multiple draft analysts named Penix the best quarterback on the field on Saturday.

There were heaps of praise thrown at the runner up for the Heisman Trophy on the broadcast as well.

Odunze lived up to the lofty expectations that the NFL had for him.

Fans loved seeing Penix throw to two of his favorite targets once again.

Worthy’s record-breaking time was shocking to say the least, even for Huskies Wire’s Alex Katson.

Rome Odunze was the last person on the field, refusing to leave until achieving his goal time for the three-cone drill.

Penix signed off in the only way he knows how on the NFL’s official page, with a “Go Dawgs.”
