The Washington Huskies defense had its fair share of struggles in 2023, but one player who always came through in big moments was cornerback Jabbar Muhammad.
Throughout Washington’s run to the national championship, Muhammad was tasked with lining up against the opposition’s top receiver and put up some excellent numbers. In the Pac-12 championship, he held Oregon’s Troy Franklin to 4 receptions for 34 yards and in the Sugar Bowl, Texas’ Xavier Worthy pulled in just two catches for 45 yards while battling the product of DeSoto, Texas.
Muhammad had the best game of his college career in Washington’s 22-20 victory over No. 10 Oregon State in Corvallis. He generated 3 turnovers with 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery, along with 4 pass breakups and allowed a 0.0 passer rating when targeted according to Pro Football Focus.
On the season, Muhammad totaled 46 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 interceptions, and 14 pass breakups which earned him a spot on the All-Pac-12 second team.
After weighing his options between the NFL draft and returning to school for one more season, the former Oklahoma State transfer opted to utilize the portal once again following Kalen DeBoer’s departure for Alabama. He ended up transferring to Oregon to play with coach Dan Lanning in his final college season.
