LSU softball run-rules Austin Peay to end third weekend of the season undefeated

The Tigers are still perfect after the Tiger Classic this weekend.

The LSU softball team continues to look like it could be a special one.

After an 11-0 run-rule win in five innings over Austin Peay, the Tigers moved to 13-0 on the season as they finished their third week of the season by taking both legs of a Saturday doubleheader.

[autotag]Emilee Casanova[/autotag] got the start and pitched all five innings as the Tigers shut out the Governors. LSU got one-run base hits in the first and second innings from [autotag]Ali Newland[/autotag] and [autotag]Taylor Pleasants[/autotag], respectively. Newland broke things open in the third with a solo homer, and that was followed by a three-run double from [autotag]Danieca Coffey[/autotag] and a three-run homer from Pleasants.

LSU added two more runs for good measure in the fourth inning with a two-run homer from Abigail Savoy.

The Tigers will be back in action on Friday when they begin the Purple & Gold Challenge with a doubleheader against Illinois and San Diego State.
