With the conclusion of the NFL season, all eyes are focused on the NFL Draft. And a former UCLA Bruin will have more eyes on him than ever.
The latest Pro Football Focus ranking, in which players are graded based on their production on the field above or below their expected output, has former Bruin Laiatu Latu ranked second among all college football players.
With a 27% pass-rush win rate, the best among all defensive ends, Latu graded out at 96.3, the highest score among all players. Add to those numbers his 13 sacks in only 12 games, and Latu looks like a no-brainer first-round pick.

Given how interested current NFL general managers and coaches are in advanced analytics and tools like Pro Football Focus, grading Latu’s grade should certainly help his cause in the NFL Draft process.
With a good showing at the NFL Combine, Latu has an opportunity to make a tough decision easy for some NFL teams. An All-American on the field, an upstanding citizen off the field, and a darling to the analytics community, Latu is the full-package and a player every NFL team should be clamoring for.
