NASCAR has a history of postponing superspeedway races at Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. The Daytona 500 has only been postponed twice before this year’s event. However, the list is long over the last 12 years when it comes to postponed superspeedway races in NASCAR. Almost all of them are pure chaos.
In August 2022, Austin Dillon won at Daytona after a sudden burst of rain wrecked the field. In October 2023, Bubba Wallace won his first Cup Series race at Talladega. In June 2020, Ryan Blaney beat Ricky Stenhouse Jr. by 0.007 seconds at Talladega. Blaney also did the same but to Ryan Newman in October 2019. Speaking of Ryan Newman, his scary wreck was on a postponed Daytona 500 on Monday.
NASCAR SS tracks (Postponed edition):
– Daytona Aug ‘22: Austin Dillon wins after sudden burst of rain wrecks field

Who could forget Justin Haley’s shocking victory in July 2019 at Daytona? Or Aric Almirola bringing the No. 43 car to victory lane for the first time since 1999 in July 2014? Finally, what about Juan Pablo Montoya hitting a jet dryer during the 2012 Daytona 500? The past suggests the 2024 Daytona 500 will be pure mayhem. It is another postponed superspeedway race, and the trends support a chaotic Daytona 500.
