The Kentucky Wildcats have had a rough time in SEC play. Defensive struggles have marred the season, and they have steadily dropped in the rankings for the past few weeks. They needed a statement win.
On Saturday, against the 13th ranked Auburn Tigers, they showed up on defense and got a huge win 70 – 59. The win, comes at an important time for the Cats, whose NCAA Tournament hopes were starting to come into question.
Antonio Reeves led the Wildcats in scoring, with 22 points. Adou Thiero was also huge, putting up 14 points and 8 rebounds in place of the injured Tre Mitchell.
The story of the game, however, was defense. Kentucky needed to bring their best defensive effort, and did exactly that. They were the more physical team, and mostly knocked Auburn off of its game.
It was a big quad one win, in a tough road environment. Fans on social media were excited, and had plenty to say.
