The Brooklyn Nets are going through some rough times as a franchise as they are looking to turn things around following the end of their superstar era. While the organization still has plenty of things that it has to figure out, there is one piece of news that everyone involved with the Nets can be proud of.
The NBA announced on Friday the class for the 2024 Naismith Basketball Hall Fame and former Net, Vince Carter, was listed as one of the finalists. While Carter is most remembered for his time with the Toronto Raptors, he did spend 4.5 seasons with the Nets, who were still in New Jersey at the time.
Carter came to the Nets as a result of a trade in the middle of the 2004-05 season and was dealt from the Raptors in exchange for Alonzo Mourning, Aaron Williams, Eric Williams, and two first-round picks. After arriving in New Jersey, Carter had arguably his most productive time in the NBA in terms of personal and team accomplishments.
Carter averaged 23.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 44.7% from the field and 37.0% from three-point land. He helped lead the Nets to the playoffs in three out of five seasons, including advancing to the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals in two of those three playoff appearances.
