The relationship between Rashad McCants and North Carolina has soured over the years. If you’re a fan of the basketball program, then you know why.
But recently, McCants had a little more to say about his time at North Carolina while speaking with Gilbert Arenas on a podcast. He claimed that Roy Williams and the team encouraged him to pass more to Sean May during the 2005 National Championship win over Illinois. McCants, who noted he had 15 points at halftime, revealed that he believed Williams wanted May to win the Most Valuable Player award because it was his birthday.
Former Tar Heels Theo Pinson and Justin Jackson weren’t buying it, however.
Here is how they responded on the ‘Run Your Race’ podcast:

All three played under Roy Williams and it’s clear that both Pinson and Jackson don’t believe what McCants had to say for multiple reasons.
It doesn’t make sense to us or fellow UNC fans either. Williams is strict and really would do everything it took to win. Plus, May was the best big man in the country that year and dominated in the title game.
