The LSU women’s basketball team has seen a lot of success over the past two seasons, but with that success comes the opportunity for distractions.
Several Tigers are among the highest-valued athletes in the nation when it comes to NIL benefits, including [autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag], who has been involved in a number of partnerships, and [autotag]Flau’Jae Johnson[/autotag], who is a budding rapper off the court.
Johnson’s NIL efforts have been particularly noteworthy, and she was featured in a local commercial in Baton Rouge that aired during the Super Bowl.
[autotag]Kim Mulkey[/autotag] was asked about NIL, and she said that she doesn’t believe it takes away from what the players are trying to do on the court — namely, repeat as national champions.
“I guess they do great. All I know is I judge them based on when they’re on the floor and it’s the same old Angel and the same old Flau’jae,” Mulkey said, per On3. “They’re out here to try and do what they did last year.
“I didn’t see that Super Bowl commercial and they were hollering. It was gone by the time I got back in the room. I’m sure she’s still doing the same stuff she’s always done.”
LSU sits at 21-4 on the season and 8-3 in conference play as it prepares for a rematch against Texas A&M on Monday night looking for the season sweep.
