There’s a reason the San Antonio Spurs picked Victor Wembanyama with the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The 20-year-old Frenchman is one of the most impressive rookies in recent memory, capable of incredible things on both sides of the ball. And on Monday night against the Toronto Raptors, he showed off exactly why he’s held in such high regard.
In the 122-99 Spurs win, Wembanyama became the youngest player ever to record a triple-double with blocks as one of the stats. He ended the night with 27 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and 10 blocks while shooting 10-of-14 from the field and 2-of-4 from beyond the three-point arc.
Following the game, the Locked On Raptors podcast gave some perspective on what it was like to watch Wembanyama absolutely dominate the Raptors.
The new-look Raptors were ultimately no match for the talent of Wembanyama and his Spurs teammates.
