Kentucky holds onto six seed in newest Bracketology

Kentucky stays as a six seed in the newest edition of Bracketology by ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.

Much has been said about the struggles of the Kentucky Wildcats in recent weeks. The rankings have not been kind, as they have fallen in every poll and power rankings that can be found. One place, however, has the Cats holding strong at the same place they were last week.

In last week’s Bracketology, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi had Kentucky as a six seed in the East Region. On Tuesday, in his newest release, the Wildcats remain a six seed, and move over to the South Region.

If this were to play out, Kentucky would face Grand Canyon University in round one, but would set up another chapter in a long rivalry in round two. Lunardi has Duke as the three seed in the South, and the potential Wildcat opponent in round two. This would be a marquee match-up between two teams whose fanbases are rabidly against the other.

Two seed Marquette would be next if the seeds held, and top seeded Houston would be the likely Elite Eight game. Texas A&M, who has already beaten Kentucky this season, and Illinois would be other potential match-ups inside the bracket.
