Texas A&M (14-8, 5-4 SEC) has put together an impressive win streak in SEC play, blowing out the Missouri Tigers 79-60 on the road behind Tyrece Radford’s 22 points just four days after the veteran guard recorded 26 points in the Aggie’s thrilling 67-66 win over the Florida Gators. Forward Andersson Garcia’s 16 rebounds against the Tigers was the second-highest output of his collegiate career.
With their toughest test of the season set for Saturday night, hosting the No. 6-ranked Tennessee Volunteers inside what should be a packed Reed Arena, the Aggies currently hold a 5-4 Quad 1 win record, likely needing several additional victories to secure a spot in next month’s NCAA Tournament.
However, earlier this week, Lunardi revealed that Texas A&M, at least in his professional opinion, is back in the field of 68 as a 10-seed and projected to face, you guessed it, the projected 7-seed Texas Longhorns.
Surprised? The powers that be have been trying to make this match-up happen year after year, including placing both teams in the same bracket last season, but alas, the Aggies’ disappointing loss to Penn State ruined the potential reunion. Either way, in Lunardi’s eyes, A&M has already put together an impressive resume thus far, but plenty of work must be done before Selection Sunday rolls around.
Next up, the 6th-ranked Tennesse Volunteers will visit the Aggies in College Station on Saturday night. The game will air on ESPN at 7:00 p.m. CT.
